The Logging Tab provides you with a stream of categorized status messages, to keep you up-to-date on what the server is currently doing.
Log Categories
The log distinguishes between several categories of messages, based on the importance/severity of the message. The categories are color coded, and separated with headers. The categories are as follows:
Severe:
these are the most urgent messages. They indicate a problem with the Vantage Point Server itself.
Warning:
used to indicate that something may be configured incorrectly by the user, or may not be working the way it might be expected to.
Important:
these are important, informative messages. Typically they are used to indicate a significant change in status, such as restarting the server, or modifying a device or point.
Configuration:
these messages are used to log progress updates when loading or applying configurations.
Detailed:
these messages are used to display updates from processes that are running in the server
Verbose:
these messages are used to elaborate on detailed messages, providing updates on the smaller steps of processes.
Extraneous:
these messages have the most detail. They provide very technical information used mostly for debugging.
