Manage Points

Allows you to build a list of points, which will be polled by the Vantage Point Server.  With this menu, you can add and remove points, or view and modify existing points.

Manage Points Menu Layout

The Point List
This section allows you to view a list of points from a selected device.  The list displays the name and value of each point, and is sorted by name.  You can quickly view different device point-lists by selecting which device you want to view from the drop-down, located immediately above the list.

Point Properties
This section is where you will provide the name of the point, and an optional description.  The name of a point must be unique from all other points in the entire server (not just within the device list).  The configuration menu will automatically rename any duplicate points by adding a number to the end of the name.  The description of the point is optional.

Device Specific Properties
The device specific properties section changes depending on what type of device is being polled.  The information required here is critical to actually retrieving data from the device.

History Recording Properties
This section of the Manage Points menu allows you to change the way history is stored for each point.  (See Point History Configuration to find out more)

The Manage Points Menu allows you to
Add a Point
To add a point, click the Add button.  Once the point has been added to the list, you can configure it according to the type of device its associated with.

Modify a Point
To modify a point, you must first select the point from the Point List, by clicking on it.  Once a point is selected, it will be possible to change the fields in the Point Properties, Device Specific, and History Recording Properties section.

Remove one or more Points
To remove a point, you must first select the point from the Point List, by clicking on it.  Once a point is selected, click the Remove button.

You can select multiple points at the same time by clicking and dragging, or by holding Ctrl down and clicking the ones you want.  Clicking the Remove button will remove all selected points.
