The Navigation Hot Spot object is an "invisible" overlay. By itself, it does not alter the appears of a panel in a presentation. What it does is turn the area where it is placed into a navigation link. Typically, you place it on top of an image or graphic that identifies the effect of clicking on the object. The image to the left is a fake Navigation Hot Spot and if you move the mouse cursor over to it you see that it changes to indicate a navigation link.
Using the Placement Properties, you specify both the size and location of this hot spot. From the Hot Spot Properties you tell the presentation what action you want to occur when a user clicks on the location while running the presentation. The Show Hover Cursor option, which is checked by default, lets the user know of the existence of the hot spot by altering the appearance of the mouse cursor when it passes over the hot spot.
