Data Hot Spot

Light OnLight OffThe Data Hot Spot object actually allows you to change the value on the data point itself, effectively controlling the device on the other end. You can lock or unlock a door, turn a light on or off, and raise or lower the temperature of a thermostat. Naturally, some data points can only return a value and cannot be changed (eg, the outside air temperature). Typically, you place it on top of an image or graphic that identifies the effect of clicking on the object.

Hot Spot Properties

The Hot Spot Properties determine what action occurs when you click on the the Date Hot Spot location. The Click Action options are Toggle, which turns the device on or off; Increase, which raises the value; Decrease, which lowers the value; and Reset, which changes the value to a predetermined amount. The Show Hover Cursor changes the mouse icon whenever the mouse cursor moves over the Data Hot Spot, so that the presentation user becomes aware of its location.

Data Properties

Use the red Link button to open the Point Manager window and select the data point to which you want to link the Data Hot Spot. Once the link is established, the last known value of the data point will appear in the red text box with a label naming the data point.

The remaining settings determine the consequences of clicking on the the Data Hot Spot. The Amount option specifies by how much to Increase or Decrease the value the data point. Enter a value into the Amount text box, or click and hold on the up/down arrow and move the mouse cursor up the screen to increase the amount or down the screen to decrease the amount. When you have selected Toggle as the Click Action, Off Value determines the value to assign to the data point when the Toggle is off while On Value determines the value to assign to the data point when the Toggle is on. If you have selected Reset at the Click Action, Reset Value determines the value to assign to the data point, when the presentation user clicks on the Data Hot Spot.
